Mill Group appoints Executive Director to boost its Investment Management Team

Mill Group has appointed asset management specialist Andrew Smith as Executive Director.

Mr Smith was formerly Global Head of Property at Aberdeen Asset Management and a member of its Group Management Board, responsible for managing client assets of over £20 billion..

The appointment comes as Mill Group launches its first project within the Private Rental Sector, through a unique Joint Venture with Bovis, aimed at creating a new avenue for institutional investment in residential property.

At Mill Group Mr Smith will be responsible for developing the company’s investment management platform to capitalise on opportunities offered in the residential sector.

During his time at Aberdeen Asset Management he also served as Chief Investment Officer and Head  of Fund Management. Most recently, he led the repositioning of Aberdeen’s product range and expanded its geographical coverage to reflect changed investor needs following the financial crisis.

Previously Mr Smith worked at Henderson Global Investors, where he was European Director of Property Research and established one of the industry’s first institutional property research teams. He currently chairs the Investment Property Forum, the leading UK property investment members organisation.
